Yet another extraordinary and rarely seen plant, named for the famous botanic garden in South Africa where it was discovered. Evergreen, silvery green almost succulent looking leaves and hen claw like flower in a eye catching shade of burnt orange followed by very attractive seed heads .
Hardy to -4 in a sheltered and well drained spot. Drainage is absolutely key to these African salvias,- I also sell S. Somalensis , unsurprisingly from Somalia! -wet will kill more often than cold in my experience.
