SALVIA GUARINITICA 'BLACK AND BLUE'
BORDERLINE HARDY PERENNIAL
HEIGHT UP TO 2M SPREAD 90 CM
FLOWERING AUGUST TO OCTOBER
Heres something spectacular for the late summer garden - foot long spikes of rich blue flowers emerging from contrasting dark calyces held on large bushy stems. Not very hardy, perhaps to -3 , so either chance it in a warm and sheltered spot or a larger container and winter under cover
Like all of this branch of the family -guarinitica - these plants need protection from slugs and snails very early in the season otherwise you may see no plant at all! They're fine as they mature but the young shoots are obviously irresistible to our slimy friends . The RHS has decreed we must longer class them as pests! Not sure yet,.....
