This extraordinary plant, very rarely seen in this country, comes from the foothills of the Andes in Bolivia and is certainly not shy or retiring with its cluster of eye catching shocking furry pink flowers which emerge from tight buds. Th e whole plant has a very tropical feel with its glossy very pointed leaves.
Best grown in a pot where it will continue to provide colour right up to the first frost when the plants should be overwintered frost free
Here's a fun salvia fact - this plant is now very rare in the wild as it struggles to produce viable seed,. One theory is that a very particular hummingbird, now extinct used to pollinate the plant so do your bit for conservation with this amazing plant,
